Travis Kelce is speaking with Adam Sandler on a weekly basis about his involvement in Happy Gilmore 2, according to reports.
Kelce is set to star in the sequel to the legendary 1996 sports comedy movie after expressing his interest earlier this year, with Sandler confirming the news last week.
While it is currently unclear which part he will play, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has now secured his first major Hollywood gig after setting his sights on becoming a star name beyond football.
Sandler revealed during an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show that filming is set to begin in the coming weeks, and Kelce is already sounding him out on his role in the movie.
According to The US Sun, he has been in weekly contact with the acting icon about Happy Gilmore 2 since they went for dinner together to discuss it earlier this month.

‘Travis couldn’t believe it, it’s like a dream come true for him as Adam Sandler is one of his idols, a heavyweight on the movie business and he loves his movies,’ a source is quoted as saying.
‘So it’s a perfect opportunity for him to work with one of his favorite directors.’
Kelce is said to be ‘excited’ about starring in the sequel and taking the opportunity ‘very seriously’ as he ventures into Hollywood for the very first time.
It is believed his role has been in the works for months, and he has since struck up a strong relationship with Sandler.
‘They have been talking with Sandler almost every week about it since the end of June approximately,’ the source continued. ‘They get along super well, they are both very simple guys, easy going and chill, and they like to laugh a lot, so they are a perfect match.’
As one of his idols, Travis believes working with Adam will provide him with invaluable experience of the movie industry as well as the business side of it.

Sandler played a fictional hockey player turned golf star with a short temper in the original Happy Gilmore movie
Earlier this year it was revealed that Kelce has ambitions to become a household name of similar stature to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with his PR team mapping out a calculated plan to make him a Hollywood star.
The NFL legend hopes his role in Happy Gilmore 2 will provide the springboard for more opportunities in the movie industry going forward, meaning he is desperate to make a success of it.
On a recent episode of his and brother Jason’s New Heights podcast, Kelce spoke about his desire to appear in the sequel as a huge fan of the first movie – in which Sandler’s fictional hockey-player character becomes an unexpected superstar after crossing over to golf.
‘Man, I didn’t even know there was a job opening. I’ll be a f***ing extra, anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set – count me in.
‘I’ll do anything in the movie. I’ll be part of it any way I possibly can.’
Kelce was also pictured wearing a Happy Gilmore cap at Coachella this year when he attended the music festival alongside girlfriend Taylor Swift.
