One part of high school particularly stands out for Savannah James.
While speaking on her “Everybody’s Crazy” podcast, which she co-hosts with April Daniels, Savannah said that she got into fights in high school when she started dating LeBron James.
James and Savannah got married in 2013 and have been dating since high school.
“I was fighting,” Savannah said. “I don’t [love to fight]. But I had to defend myself. I had a lot of that. I had girls who didn’t like me and couldn’t tell nobody why they didn’t like me.
“… I do feel like a lot of the fights I had, it was just me being an ally of my friends. I don’t feel like I really fought a fight that was my fight. Because I was nice. I got a long a majority of everybody.”
Daniels then jokingly suggested that she would’ve been mad at her too for dating the now-NBA superstar and said that’s the reason other girls didn’t like Savannah.
“They’re like, ‘Why couldn’t it be me?’ ” Daniels said.
“I don’t know,” Savannah replied.
She and James share three kids: sons Bronny, 19, Bryce, 16, and 9-year-old daughter Zhuri.
“I think the only thing I would’ve done differently is started to take care of myself sooner,” Savannah said earlier in the podcast. “That’s the only thing I would’ve done differently. Anything else, having babies young, all of that, it happened. Like April said, that’s a part of my journey. But I do think that pouring into myself and making space for myself sooner, I would’ve liked to start that earlier.”
James’ Lakers future is uncertain as he can opt out of his current contract this offseason.
ESPN reported on Thursday that the Lakers are preparing a massive offer to lure Dan Hurley, who won back-to-back national championships with UConn, for their head coaching vacancy.
The Lakers fired Darvin Ham after a disappointing season, eliminated by the Nuggets in five games in the first round of the playoffs.
