Blake Lively has been lying low since the release of controversial film It Ends With Us in early August – but now she has posted a message to remind fans she has some great products to sell
Blake Lively has broken her social media silence following a backlash against her – winning the support of her husband, Ryan Reynolds.
The 37-year-old Gossip Girl star faced fury in recent weeks following the release of her controversial film, It Ends With Us. The star plays lead character Lily Bloom in the divisive film which faced criticism for being promoted like a romantic comedy only for the content to focus on domestic abuse.
Blake was betrayed by much of her own fanbase who slammed her for giving light hearted interviews about the film – and also for promoting her hair care brand while on the campaign trail. She has not posted online since the film was released on 9 August, but made a sensational return to Instagram on Sunday.
The actress posted a promotional snap of her hair care brand alongside a caption stating: “Our @blakebrownbeauty All-In-wONEder potion does it all… except provide you a shirt… or a hairbrush… I don’t know what those are.” The image showed Blake sitting on a stool wearing blue jeans, a brown coat and holding a bottle of product.
She shared the same image via Instagram Stories alongside a simple caption stating: “No shirt. No hiarbrush. No problem.” Fans will have noticed she turned comments off on the post – but fans were still able to like the post. Husband Ryan, 47, was among those hitting the ‘like’ button – with his name flashing up among those who had appreciated the post.
The Hollywood stars have been married since 2012 and they share four children together. They have both enjoyed box office success over the summer months as Ryan’s latest action film, Deadpool and Wolverine, has made over $1 billion after it was released. And despite controversy leading up to the release of It Ends With Us, the film has made an impressive $335 million (£250 million) since it was released. Rumours dogged the film release, however, as there were rumours Blake clashed with co-star and director Justin Baldoni on set of the film.
Blake’s most recent Instagram post before her shirtless hair promotion had been a post about the release of her movie. She wrote alongside a short video: “‘The shoes! And shiny butt. Why is that the butt??’ Becoming friends with @jennyslate & all of these women @colleenhoover @isabela.ferrer is the best thing to come out of @itendswithusmovie for me.”
She added: “And that’s saying A LOT because I couldn’t be more proud of this film. I’m gonna be sad when marketing is over and I don’t have excuses to sit on my couch dressed up with you ladies playing @tabletopicsinc xoxo Cookie Face.” Justin Baldoni had previously suggested he would return to film a sequel to the movie, but subsequently said he did not want to return – and suggested that Blake Lively direct the film instead.
