Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has cashed in a shiny payday after selling the luxurious home he shared with ex-wife Kristin Cavallari.
After listing it on the market over a year ago, Jay Cutler finally found a taker for the dream mansion. According to TMZ Sports, Cutler sold it last Wednesday for $7.9 million, a considerable reduction from his initial asking price of $11 million:
“Real estate sources tell us the former NFL quarterback’s massive property was purchased in an all-cash sale on Wednesday for $7.9 million. It’s quite a loss for Jay seeing he originally listed the property in early 2023 for $11 million.
The 7 bed, 10 bath, 10,697 square foot home, which sits on more than 45 acres of land, comes with a gym, sauna, and a recently added pool house.”
Though Cutler had to accept an offer well below the initial price, he still came out on top with a profit. As TMZ noted, Cutler and Cavallari bought the home in 2018 for $4.23 million, before purchasing 35 more acres for $1.2 million.
Cutler and Cavallari started seeing each other in 2010 and tied the knot in 2013. The former NFL quarterback and the Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County star have three children together. They divorced in 2022 after nine years of marriage.
Cutler helped the Bears to an NFC North division crown and conference title game appearance in 2010, but they wound up losing to the archrival Green Bay Packers. Even though Cutler suffered a sprained MCL in the loss, he received widespread criticism for not finishing the game, with many labeling Cutler as a “quitter.”
Cutler also received plenty of criticism for being expressionless on the sidelines, leading to accusations that he didn’t “care” enough to win. Nonetheless, Cutler is far-and-away one of the best quarterbacks the Bears have had in their history, having nearly guided them to additional playoff appearances in 2012 and 2013.
He retired with 35,133 career passing yards and 227 touchdowns against 160 picks.
