One anonymous NFL defensive coordinator compared Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes to Tom Brady.
“I know people who were taking Philly or San Francisco in the Super Bowl,” the defensive coordinator told Mike Sando of The Athletic. “Dude, they are playing Mahomes. You take Mahomes. He’s like Brady when Brady was in his prime. You can’t bet against that dude because he’s the best in the business.”
At 28 years old, Mahomes is already on track to become one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. He has two MVP awards and three Super Bowl victories under his belt, including consecutive championship wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers in 2022 and 2023.
Comparisons to the NFL’s all-time leading passer have consistently cropped up during Mahomes’ strong start to his career, as both quarterbacks have been dominant in the playoffs.
The Chiefs signal-caller owns a career postseason record of 15-3. Through Brady’s first six playoff trips, he accumulated a 14-3 record as a starter.
Mahomes has been modest when asked about comparisons to the New England Patriots legend, explaining that Brady is “the greatest of all time” and he still has a long way to go in his career to catch up to the seven-time Super Bowl champion during a Feb. 13 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
As he enters his eighth season in the league, Mahomes will attempt to help the Chiefs become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive titles.
